When printing with paper thicker than standard printer paper, it is critical that you set the document and the printer/copier appropriately to ensure a quality print and not jam or damage the printer.
Failure to do either can result in A) Smeared or smudged printing B) Frequent and disruptive paper jams and C) Ultimately, a damaged printer with significant downtime.
Setting the computer and printer for Heavy Paper slows the machine to an appropriate speed to fuse the ink to the paper, and allow for the different flex of the heavier stock. Because it require fewer bends, please use the bypass tray for heavy stock print jobs. The below instructions will show you how to print Heavy Paper to our copiers.
1. Print your document. In the print dialogue that pops up, make sure "Follow Me" is selected then click "Printing Preferences".
2. Click "Paper Source" then click "Heavy Paper 1" for Paper Type. Click OK then print your document.
3. Walk to your favorite printer / copier. Fob in to your user. Hit "Device Functions" then click "Tray Settings".
4. Set the desired tray (In almost all cases, use the bypass tray for heavy stock) to Heavy Paper 1. Make sure no other trays are set for Heavy Paper 1.
Print your document.
