Occasionally it will be necessary to forward an e-mail on behalf of another sender. Most often, this is due to not having permission to send an e-mail on behalf of another staff person, but being given access to read the e-mails for reasons of PTO, sabbatical, staff separation, etc.
If a staff member needs to forward an e-mail that is in another staff persons mailbox, they can do so by changing the “send from” address when forwarding the e-mail. Follow the steps below:
- Open the e-mail you need to forward or reply to. Click the appropriate action (for our example, forward)
- Click on the “From” field. A drop down will appear, allowing you to select anyone you have permission to send on behalf of. In many cases, you will be trying to forward an e-mail that was originally sent to another staff person. In this case, to send it on, you will choose to send as yourself instead of that staff person.
